The two biggest markets are in Moungali and Ouendze. The open air markets in the villages of Makana and M’Pila (3 km from Brazzaville) sell pottery and wicker. Shop opening times: i. A. Mon-Sat 08.00-12.00 and 15.00-18.00. Some shops close on Monday afternoons, some are open on Sunday mornings.

The usual forms of politeness should be observed when inviting, small gifts are welcome. Casual everyday attire is acceptable everywhere, but miniskirts and shorts should not be worn in all public places. Photography: It is forbidden to photograph public buildings and facilities. Tipping: 10% in hotels and restaurants. Porters do not expect a tip.
