According to ehuzhou, Dodge County, Wisconsin is located in the southeastern part of the state and is home to approximately 88,000 people. The county was created in 1836 when the Wisconsin Territory was established. It was named after Henry Dodge, who served as the first Territorial Governor of Wisconsin. The county’s first settlers were mostly German immigrants arriving in the early nineteenth century. They were drawn to the area for its fertile soil and abundant natural resources such as timber and water. The county quickly grew as more settlers arrived, drawn by its rich agricultural potential and access to Lake Michigan. In 1840, Dodge County became its own political entity with the formation of a Board of Supervisors that would later become known as the County Board. In 1847, it officially became a Wisconsin county and began establishing local government offices such as a courthouse, jailhouse, and sheriff’s office. In 1851, a railroad line connecting Milwaukee to Fond du Lac was completed through Dodge County which helped spur further economic growth in the region. This resulted in an influx of businesses to serve both local residents and travelers along the rail line including hotels, restaurants, stores, banks, blacksmiths and more. Over time Dodge County has experienced several periods of growth due to its advantageous location between two major cities (Milwaukee & Madison) as well as its abundance of natural resources including water from Lake Michigan and Koshkonong Creek plus timber for lumber production. Today, it is a popular destination for tourists looking for outdoor recreation opportunities including fishing on Lake Koshkonong or camping at one of its many state parks or forest preserves. Dodge County, Wisconsin is served by a number of public school districts. These include Beaver Dam Unified School District, Waupun Area School District, Mayville School District, Lomira School District, and Horicon School District. In addition, the county is home to two private schools: St. Stephen Catholic School in Beaver Dam and St. Paul Lutheran in Mayville. Beaver Dam Unified School District serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade and operates nine elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district’s mission is to provide a quality education that prepares students for success after graduation through high expectations, rigorous curriculum standards and engaging learning opportunities. The district’s graduation rate is above the state average at 94%. Waupun Area School District serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade with seven elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The district focuses on providing an engaging learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential as contributing members of society by providing them with challenging curriculum standards and access to a variety of extracurricular activities such as sports teams, performing arts programs and clubs. Mayville School District serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade with five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The district emphasizes both academic excellence and personal growth by offering a balanced curricular program with rigorous coursework as well as extracurricular activities such as robotics clubs or sports teams like basketball or volleyball. Lomira School District serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade with four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The district has a strong commitment to student success by providing challenging curriculum standards while also offering extracurricular activities such as drama productions or athletic teams like football or soccer. Horicon School District serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade with three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. This district emphasizes creativity in learning environments by offering unique classes like STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) or traditional fine arts programs in music or art plus extracurricular activities such as chess club or robotics team competitions for those interested in technology-related fields after graduation.
