It is a diverse region with many different cultures, languages, and religions. The dominant religion in Micronesia is Christianity, with most Micronesians belonging to the Protestant or Roman Catholic faiths. However, there are also some traditional beliefs that have been practiced in the region for centuries. The traditional religion of Micronesia is called “animism” which involves belief in a range of spiritual or supernatural forces. Animism includes ancestor worship, belief in spirits, and reverence for natural forces such as mountains, rivers and volcanoes. Today there are both Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist temples on many islands throughout Micronesia attended mainly by immigrant Buddhists from China or Japan though some local residents also practice Buddhism alongside their traditional beliefs or Christianity. Hinduism has also been introduced to some parts of Micronesia over recent years mainly due to increased immigration from India’s subcontinent region into countries like Guam since the late 20th century onward where Hindu temples now exist alongside Buddhist temples serving immigrant Hindu populations living within these islands today. Finally, Islam has recently made its way into some parts of Micronesia primarily due to increased migration from Middle Eastern countries like Syria into countries like Guam since the early 21st century onward where several mosques now exist providing spiritual guidance to their congregations through religious instruction, prayer services and community outreach activities such as charity works while Islamic festivals like Eid al-Fitr are celebrated each year with great enthusiasm by Muslims living within these islands today alongside other festivals celebrated by Christians or followers of traditional beliefs throughout this fascinating region known as Micronesia. In 2011, the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) was a country located in the Pacific Ocean, comprising four small island states: Yap, Chuuk, Kosrae, and Pohnpei. The total population of FSM in 2011 was estimated to be around 105,000 people with a median age of 21 years. The official language of FSM is English and the predominant religion is Christianity. The economy of FSM in 2011 was largely based on subsistence agriculture with fishing and tourism also contributing to its income. The government implemented several measures to promote economic development such as providing incentives for foreign investors and encouraging small businesses through tax breaks and access to credit. The education system in FSM consists of both public and private schools and universities. Public schools are free for all students up to grade 12 but there are no tuition fees for tertiary education at public universities. Healthcare in FSM is provided by both public and private institutions. There is an international airport located on the island of Pohnpei which connects it to other countries such as Guam and Japan as well as domestic airports on each island that connect them with one another. Roads are generally well-maintained but there are few highways connecting the islands so travel can be quite slow at times due to traffic congestion or bad weather conditions. In terms of security concerns, crime rates were relatively low in 2011 with most crime taking place between individuals rather than against tourists or other visitors from abroad. However drug-related violence had been increasing since 2009 due to increased trafficking from neighbouring countries such as Indonesia which had led to a rise in criminal activity including robberies, burglaries, assaults and murders.
