Mother-of-pearl items, walking sticks, carvings and inlays, copper items, sea snail shells and rare shell money items. You can shop duty-free in some shops in Honiara. Shop opening times: Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00, Sat 08:00-12:00.

Introduction
Some clubs in Honiara offer music and dancing as well as occasional film screenings; you can also play darts and billiards. Short-term membership is possible.

Overview
Local specialties include tapioca pudding and taro root with taro leaves. There are few restaurants outside of the hotels in Honiara, the Asian and European dishes on offer are good. Honiara offers two Chinese restaurants. Table service is common. Spirits, wine and beer are also available.

There are only six hotels in Honiara, advance booking is strongly recommended. Other accommodations are also located on the Reef Islands, West Solomon Islands and Malaita. Some lodges and resorts also offer recreational activities. Social Rules of Conduct
European and native customs are equally prevalent. Casual clothing is accepted everywhere. Swimwear belongs on the beach. Tipping is not customary in the Solomon Islands.

Semi-tropical, mostly hot and humid; hardly any temperature differences between the seasons. In the rainy season (November to April), strong hurricanes often occur.
