Boise is the capital and the most populous city in Idaho. It is located in the northwest United States, by the Boise River. The city has 226,570 residents (U.S. Census, 2017), and is the center of a large irrigation area.
The industry is versatile and several large companies are headquartered here. Health enterprises, the high-tech industry (Micron Technology) and the state university from 1932 are the largest employers.
The city was founded in 1863 as Fort Boise, built by the U.S. Army, and became the state capital in 1864.
