Slovakia is a relatively young and smaller state in Eastern Europe that emerged from the peaceful partition of Czechoslovakia in 1992/1993. The country, which was under Hungarian, Russian, Austrian and German repression for a long time, has been a member of the European Union since May 1, 2004. Slovakia lies between the Danube and the Carpathian Mountains and has a very beautiful nature, with numerous animals – including wolves and brown bears. The country is very hilly as around 80% of the country is over 750 meters. About 40% are forested area. The “Slovak Karst” in the southeast of the country is a spectacular landscape. The High Tatras on the border with Poland are considered to be the smallest high mountains in the world.

According to Abbreviationfinder website, the highest mountain in the country is the Gerlsdorfer Spitze with a height of 2,654 m. Slovakia is a country with good sports facilities such as skiing, climbing, hiking, etc.
