One thing is for sure, everybody has a couple at home: the jeans. The jeans is the clothing it in people’s wardrobe. Can be colored, straight cut, flare, skinny, high waist, low, intermediate. UFA. There is no option. But this piece of clothing so important have a history that follows. So, sit there comes a story.
Our beloved jeans appeared in 1853, a creation of Levi Strauss, a German immigrant who ended up in the United States. As he watched workers miners and cowboys Americans who sought gold, he noticed they needed to wear clothes well strengthened due to the environment and type of work.
He then decided to do an experiment and produced some pieces using a tarp that was at hand. The pieces were distributed to miners and the success happened. The canvas is a very sturdy and durable fabric, and that pleased the workers.
But the fabric used to manufacture was not comfortable. He went to France to seek other alternative, a fabric made with softer cotton, however, resistant and durability. The canvas that gave life to the jeans back then was blue, was Brown! The blue color we know was only applied later, when Levi used the plant Indigus (the famous name Indigo comes this plant) as a dye to dye parts.
The jeans did quite successfully with the workers, the durability and resistance of the manufactured parts. The miners used the pockets to keep tools, then were added to the piece of metal rivets to reinforce the seam. All very rustic, but efficient. Only in the twentieth century that the jeans was adhered to our daily life.
After the opening of your factory, Levi Strauss & Co, was released a female line, have changed your moulds and pants more famous was named 501 for having 5 pockets and for being the first pair of jeans. In the course of time, he perfected its models by adding metal buttons, the leather label on the waistband, the color Indigo and the back pockets came last.
But it was in the 1930 the jeans gained notoriety, thanks to Western films with the American cowboys.During World War II, the United States soldiers wore uniforms made the brim (outside use denim), adding the brand an image of virility and strength.
Film personalities from the Decade of 1950, as James Dean and Marilyn Monroe popularized even more the creation of Levi, when appearing in the postwar Hollywood films. From there, the clothing has adapted every moment and situation of history and also made its history.
In the decade of 1950, Marlon Brando and Elvis Presley gave the jeans an image of rebellion, reaching rock´n´roll and gaining a sensual touch on Marilyn Monroe’s body. The customization of jeans emerged in the late 70, as a means of expression of the hippies. It didn’t take long to be industrialized and enter the houses of millions of people.
It can be said that the jeans are the clothing that is less suffering from the social codes, as it fits any kind of function and environment. It’s the most classical and current part we possess. Every moment is being reinvented and reformed, customized and resurgence. The CAL at the moment is flare, the one that was known as bell-mouth, remember? Yes, she’s back. But calm down, she came back renewed, and with different combinations options. It’s just not worth coming back in time, and fantasizing about hippies. It’s a foot there and another one here!
